Get Involved in WACCRA

Join Other Members in Building the Association

WACCRA is a volunteer-run organization. As such, we are as strong as our members who volunteer their time and expertise to advocate for themselves and their CCRC neighbors, both local and across the state of Washington.

Here are some ways you can participate:

Become a WACCRA Liaison at your CCRC

Currently, seven CCRC communities have a resident WACCRA member who serves as their CCRC’s WACCRA Liaison. The Liaison serves as an “in-house” resource for members, works to grow membership within the CCRC, and educates CCRC residents about issues of interest to WACCRA.

If your CCRC does not have a WACCRA Liaison, please send your inquiry to Susan Dillon, Membership Committee Chair

Join a Committee

WACCRA members are active on the organization’s committees. They are:

Advocacy Committee
Works with our legislators, government officials, and allied organizations to develop goals and objectives that further improve CCRC legislation and resident services. Fall 2020: This Committee is currently on hiatus until needed.

Legislative Liaison Committee - Carlos Caguiat, Chair

Maintains contacts with our legislators and works to develop legislative strategies with and for our legislators.

Communications Committee - Monica Clement, Chair
Keeps WACCRA members informed and engaged, and assists other committees with their communications needs. Composes content of WACCRA’s News-Mails.

Education Committee - Sally Soest, Chair

Develops information tools for current and prospective residents explaining the need for CCRC resident protections and services (example: Consumer Guide). Shares selected articles of interest to the CCRC community.

Membership Committee - Susan Dillon, Chair
Grows membership in currently involved CCRCs through the work of CCRC Coordinators. Recruits residents of other CCRCs across the state. Keeps a database of WACCRA membership.

Attend a Board Meeting

WACCRA’s Board meets on the second Friday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon. Meetings are held at one of the CCRC’s on a rotating basis. All members are welcome to attend. (Note: due to the COVID restrictions that started in 2020, the Board Meetings were held via ZOOM. Going forward, this arrangement may be convenient again.)

Attend the Annual Meeting

The Annual Meeting is held at one of the CCRCs. Members vote on new Board members and have the opportunity to meet WACCRA leadership to discuss issues. The meeting program includes a guest speaker.
